Before your Stay – Enquiries and Bookings

  • Why should I book a Darmic condo/apartment rather than a hotel room?

    There are so many great reasons why a Darmic condo/apartment is the best option for your holiday:

    Generally our suites will be larger in floor space than a hotel room, they have fully equipped kitchens (which can save you a lot of money, being able to cook and eat in), have a separate bedroom (with a sliding door between the living space and the bedroom), and you know exactly what you are getting when booking (the photos of our rooms show the actual room, view etc - not just a 'type' as most hotels will).

    In addition, we do not charge a resort fee, we provide free parking and do not have a daily maid service that interrupts your peace and privacy.

    A condo/apartment feels like a home-away-from-home, with room to move and relax.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    Due to the uncertainties of the current pandemic Darmic has an interim cancellation policy in place for all direct bookings in 2021.
    Please note: if your booking is through an online travel agent (for example: VRBO, Expedia, Booking.com and affiliates) your cancellation policy may vary from this. Please refer back to the information provided by your booking agent.

    These policies will apply if you choose to cancel your booking. They will be re-assessed if the situation changes in Hawaii and borders are closed and/or travel options are terminated.

    Bookings up to 27 nights
    If your reservation is cancelled:
    • more than 15 days prior to arrival, we will refund the total amount paid towards your reservations (your deposit).
    • within 15 days of your arrival, your deposit can only be refunded if we are able to onsell the space.

    Monthly Stays (28 nights or more)
    • Outside 60 days prior to arrival, your deposit will be refunded in full.
    • Within 60 days of your arrival, your deposit can only be refunded if we are able to onsell the space. Any additional monies will also only be refunded if the space can be resold.

  • What is the minimum length of stay?

    The minimum length of stay for suites at the Waikiki Banyan is 3 nights.

  • How many people do your suites accommodate?

    We have a variety of properties and categories of suites, with different bedding configurations.

    Please ensure you read the descriptions and features of the suites before booking.

    At the Waikiki Banyan, all of our suites can sleep up to 4 people. Some can also accommodate a 5th person (at an extra charge). Additional single rollaway beds are also available for hire.

  • Do all your suites have the same beds?

    No, our suites have a variety of bedding configurations.
    Some have King sized beds, others have Queens. Some have multiple beds (eg: one Queen and one Double bed in the bedroom) and some of our King beds can be split into two Twin/Singles if preferred.
    Most of our suites also include a fold out sofa bed (usually a Queen size).
    Please ensure you read the descriptions and features of the suites before booking.

  • Is free parking included at the Waikiki Banyan?

    Yes all Darmic Suites at the Waikiki Banyan come with one free park for our guests. Parking at the Waikiki Banyan is via a permit that you hang on the rear view mirror of your car. If booked, this parking pass will be found in your suite on arrival.

    We will require either a fully refundable security deposit of US$200 or your credit card details (which are held on file). This can be processed at check in. If the parking pass is not returned at the end of your stay then the security deposit is forfeited.

    Special Note: due to the height of the parking garage entrance, any vehicle over 76 inches cannot park on site. Please be aware of this when hiring your rental car.

  • Do you have two suites close together or same floor?

    We do have a number of suites on the same floor within the Waikiki Banyan.

    When looking at the suite numbers the first two digits of the room number (or the first digit if only 3 numbers) designates the floor. For example: 3802 is on the 38th floor. 914 is on the 9th floor.

  • Do your suites come with linens and towels?

    All Darmic suites are equipped with the basic necessities.

    Fresh bed linens and bath towels will be provided according to the room size and number of guest(s).

    One beach/pool towel is also provided for each guest.

    There are laundry facilities available at the Waikiki Banyan - if you need to launder these items during your stay.

  • Do you have any suites at the Waikiki Banyan with a clothes washer and dryer?

    Unfortunately at this time we do not have any suites with laundry equipment.

    At the Waikiki Banyan only suites on the 6th floor are allowed to have a washer/dryer installed in the suite and currently we do not have any on this floor.

    However, there is a laundry room on every floor (except the 6th floor) for guests to use. Washing machines and dryers are coin-operated – or you can download an easy-to-use payment App (PayRange) on your phone. This is available for free on IOS (Apple Store) and Android (Google Play).
    We would recommend that you download and set this up before your trip. Once installed you simply add funds (using a variety of payment methods) and you are ready to go.

  • Do you provide baby equipment such as Pak n' Plays/Portacots?

    Yes. These are available to hire upon request and must be booked prior to your arrival. They are subject to availability.

  • Do you have additional beds for hire?

    Yes, we have single rollaway beds for hire, as well as infant portacots.

  • Some of your Suites say they have a King Bed that can also be 2 x Twin/Singles - what does this mean?

    Some of our Suites do have a King bed that can be split into two Twin/Single beds. These are noted in the Suite's details.

    Please note that our housekeeping team will need to know which configuration you want the bed set up for, before you arrive. By default the bed will be set up as a King bed unless we are otherwise advised.

  • What time is check-in and check-out?

    Check-in is from 3pm (15:00)

    An earlier check-in can be organised in advance (on payment of the early check-in fee of US$50.00 plus tax). This will give you access to your suite from 9am (09:00) and is subject to availability.

    Check-out is by 10am (10:00)

    A later check-out can be arranged in advance (on payment of the late check-out fee of US$50.00 plus tax). This will give you access to your suite until 5pm (17:00) and is subject to availability. A later check out than 5pm would require an additional night to be booked.

  • Can I request an early check in?

    Check-in is from 3pm (15:00).

    An earlier check-in can be organised in advance (on payment of the early check-in fee of US$50.00 plus tax). This will give you access to your suite from 9am (09:00) and is subject to availability (as another guest may be checking out the same day you check in).

  • Do you charge a resort fee?

    No - Darmic does not charge a resort or booking fee.

  • What deposit do I need to pay?

    For stays up to 27 nights, the deposit required to hold your suite is US$300.00.

    For stays 28 nights and over, the deposit required to hold your suite is US$500.00

  • What additional costs/fees might apply to my booking?

    All of our nightly rates are exclusive of taxes and fees.

    Taxes in Hawaii are: General Excise Tax (GE Tax) - 4.712%. Transient accommodations tax (TA Tax) - 10.25%.

    Other mandatory fees: Housekeeping fee (cleaning and amenities) - $209 plus tax per stay.

    Additional charges depend on the property and your requirements (e.g; bedding, furniture hireage, early check-in etc). Please see the Terms and Conditions page for a list of these fees.

  • Can I get a discount for booking multiple suites?

    Yes, we do offer discounts for bookings of 4 suites or more. Please ask our team for details.

  • What payment methods can I use?

    Please refer to our Terms and Conditions page for an overview of payment methods available.

During your Stay

  • What is your check in procedure?

    All of our suites have keyless entry.
    The code for entry into your room will be emailed to you prior to your check-in date. When you arrive anytime after 3.00pm you can go directly to your suite.
    If you are arriving before 3.00pm, an early check-in must be booked with our team (prior to arrival and subject to availability).

  • Where is the parking at the Waikiki Banyan?

    All Darmic Suites at the Waikiki Banyan come with one free park for our guests. The parking is in the same building.
    On arrival please enter the carpark (off Kuhio Ave) and advise the security guard that you are checking in and need to get your parking permit. They will direct you to a temporary carpark. Once you have the permit you will then need to park your car in the designated carpark (anywhere above floor 2).

    Special Note: due to the height of the parking garage entrance, any vehicle over 76 inches cannot park on site. Please be aware of this when hiring your rental car.

  • Can you store my luggage until I check-in or check-out?

    Unfortunately we do not currently have the ability to store luggage for guests.

  • What is included in my suite?

    Your suite rental includes:

    Full service kitchen: stove (usually an oven as well), fridge, microwave, sink, silverware, cookware (including tea kettle; drinkware). A few suites also have dishwashers.

    Bed linens; bath, beach & kitchen towels

    Hair dryer, iron & ironing board

    Complementary amenity starter packs: 2 boxes of tissues, 3 rolls of toilet paper, 1 bottle of dish soap (washing liquid), 3-4 bars of bathroom soap and 1 pack of Tide laundry powder (under the sink), coffee; tea; dishwasher soap (if unit has a dishwasher); body soap; shampoo and conditioner. (Additional items are available at local markets and grocery stores)

    **At times we do also have a limited amount of donated beach gear (snorkel gear, boogie boards, beach chairs, goggles) and sport equipment (tennis rackets, basketballs, footballs) available upon request, however this is subject to availability and is used at your own risk.**

  • What is in the amenity starter packs?

    At the Waikiki Banyan our complementary amenity starter packs include 2 boxes of tissues, 3 rolls of toilet paper, 1 bottle of dish soap (washing liquid), dishwasher soap (if unit has a dishwasher), 3-4 bars of bathroom soap, 1 pack of Tide laundry powder (under the sink), coffee, tea, body soap; shampoo and conditioner.

  • Will I find insects in my room?

    Waikiki is a city, on a tropical island so there is always the possibility of bugs (flies, ants, beetles etc). However the higher up you are in the building, the less likely you are to see any of these.

    The suites are regularly treated by a pest control team to prevent cockroaches.

  • Do the rooms have beach gear?

    Often donated items such as boogie boards, umbrellas and beach chairs will be available to borrow, however at the Waikiki Banyan we cannot guarantee the availability of any beach gear as we do move these around from room to room. Beach equipment cannot be pre-booked and are used at your own risk. We cannot guarantee the quality of these items.

  • How do I contact the On-site Manager?

  • Will my room be cleaned daily? / Is there a daily maid service?

    No, our rooms are not serviced once you have checked-in.

    If you require a mid-stay clean, this can be booked in advance with our team for an additional US$99.00 plus tax.

  • Is smoking allowed at the Waikiki Banyan?

    No. Smoking is prohibited in all of our suites and in all common areas of the buildings (including your lanais/balcony).

    The Waikiki Banyan has a designated smoking area.

  • How do I check out of my suite?

    Before checking out of the suite we ask that you please:

    Throw out any trash
    Do any dishes
    and please refer to the check-out information sheet in your room folder for other instructions.
    If you have a parking pass (and security key), please leave these on the benchtop in your suite.
    Then, simply close the door as you leave, you do not need to contact our team.

    The island of Oahu has its own set of rules and regulations relating to COVID-19. For the most up-to-date information, please go to this website and familiarise yourself with the current restrictions in place: www.oneoahu.org.

    Under the Honolulu Re-opening Strategy you will find information about the framework currently in place for reducing the spread of Covid-19 and the four tiers. Please ensure you read and are familiar with the latest State guidelines, as these could change at any time.

  • How far away is the Beach from the Waikiki Banyan?

    The Waikiki Banyan is only 1 block from Waikiki Beach (just a few minutes walk).

  • Where do I go for visitor information about Waikiki and the Hawaiian Islands?

  • Where can I buy supplies?

    Grocery and supply stores in the local area are:

    Safeway – 888 Kapahulu Ave, Honolulu, HI 96816

    Foodland – 2939 Harding Ave, Honolulu, HI 96816

    Sam’s Club (membership necessary) – above Wal-Mart at 750 Keeaumoku St, Honolulu, HI 96814

    Costco (membership necessary) – 525 Alakawa St, Honolulu, HI 96817

    Plus there are many ABC Stores in the immediate vicinity with staple groceries, ready to eat meals and souvenirs.

  • How far is the Waikiki Banyan from the airport? How do I get there?

    The Waikiki Banyan is around 10 miles from the airport.

    There are many options of transport from the airport - including taxis, shuttles, Uber or Lyft.

    A taxi will usually cost around $45-$55 with traveling time of approximately 45 minutes. There is a taxi stand across the road from the Arrivals exit.

    Airport Shuttles are less costly with a traveling time up to 60 mins depending on route. These can be pre-booked.
