The Waikiki Banyan is about to get a new look in the hallways!

Installation of the building’s brand new carpet begins Monday, 10th January 2022.


Work will take place during normal working hours, Monday – Friday from approximately 8:30am – 4:30pm.

The installers will first work on the area in front of the elevators, starting around 8:30 each day. During this time, you won’t be able to enter or leave the elevators on your floor.

However, you’ll be able to go up or down the stairs a couple of flights and access the elevators that way. This work should take around 45-60 minutes. If you are on one of the floors being installed that day, installers will knock on your door and let you know when the work is ready to start.

Next the installers will work on the long portion of the hallway and after that, on the short portion. Since they will be putting down glue, you’ll either have to stay in your unit during this time, or leave and come back later after the glue is dry. Again, installers will knock on your door and let you know what’s happening.

**During this time please be cautious if opening your door.

Please cooperate with the installation teams. They are efficient professionals and will work to complete the process in a timely manner with minimum disruption.

Effective December 14, 2021, the City and County of Honolulu imposed a new State Tax which is additional to the current rate of 4.712% for GE and 10.248% for TA.

For all nights booked from January 01, 2022 an extra 3% Oahu Transient Accommodation Tax (OTAT) will be added to all reservations and quotes.
This makes the total tax rate for short term vacation rentals 17.96% which must be submitted to the State of Hawaii Department of Taxation.
We will be contacting all upcoming guests, who have already booked, as soon as possible to advise of the increased amount that will be required on your arrival.
All new bookings (from 1st January 2022), will include this tax in the listed suite price.

All floors of the Waikiki Banyan (except the 6th floor) have a laundry room for guests to use.

Washing machines and dryers are coin-operated – however now you can also download an easy-to-use payment App (PayRange) on your phone.  This is available for free on IOS (Apple Store) and Android (Google Play).

Once the App is installed, simply add funds (using a variety of payment methods) and you are ready to go.

We would recommend that our guests download and set this up before their trip to Hawaii.

UPDATE – SEPTEMBER 13TH 2021 –  The Waikiki Banyan Recreation Deck currently has maintenance work in-progress.  At the time of this notice, the swimming pool, hot tubs/spas, barbeques  and playground are not affected and are operating (following COVID-19 protocols).  The tennis/pickleball/basketball court is not operational at this time (as there are no nets or fences) – however the area is able to be used for other recreational/exercise activities.

UPDATE – JULY 25TH 2021 – Spalling work is now complete, thank you to everyone for your patience during this time.     Please note that there are currently no base boards (skirtings) in the Waikiki Banyan main hallways  – as new carpet is being installed later in the year.

UPDATE – APRIL 1ST 2021 :     The Drain/Vent Line Project is now complete.   There is still some spalling work being conducted around the perimeter of the garage (levels 1-5) – until May 2021 – which may have affects such as dust and noise in some suites/floors.
